VP Community

As VP Community I cover a lot of ground of your student experience; from your volunteering opportunities to your societies and loads in between.

In the coming year I would like to introduce a brand new accreditation scheme - allowing you to be rewarded for taking part in SU activities - and gaining valuable employability skills in the process. This scheme will cover a large number of varied topics, so you can be accredited no matter what you’re interested in.

Please make sure you stop me when you see me around campus to tell me all about your thoughts, concerns and experiences. The exec team is here to represent you – so let us know what’s happening! I look forward to seeing you all in September!

My Fact File:

I studied Broadcast Journalism.

I had little previous SU involvement – worked with the SU and covered many events for Radio LaB.

My band being signed to Blizzard Records.

Throwing up over my ex’s shoulder on a bus.

Favourite food is a large mixed grill.

Hobbies outside of work include playing gigs and recording with my band, supporting Leeds United Football Club, visiting family and reciting Alan Partridge episodes line by line.

My dream holiday is being at music festivals, preferably abroad to avoid the mud and rain.

In five years’ time I hope to be somewhere sunny enjoying life to the full.

My Priorities:

A deal has been agreed for Enterprise to hold employability and development workshops for students on campus

The accreditation scheme has been developed, promotional materials are now being created for the launch of the scheme

Speak to interested societies during freshers. Structure of the shows being worked on with Radio LaB.

Plans being worked on for a recycling awareness campaign during Go Green Week

Speak to students to find out what does/doesn’t make them feel safe on campus and how we can improve their safety.
